Following last week’s story about Harley-Davidson possibly shuttering all production in Milwaukee and moving the work to Kansas City if a new contract canot be reached with unions, “The York Daily Record/York Sunday News” had a story yesterday about the impact of such a decision on the H-D plant there. Prepping for Cannonball Run
The Cannonball Endurance Run for pre-1916 motorcycles begins Sept. 10 in Kitty Hawk, N.C. and ends in Santa Monica, Calif, and two riders from Connecticut are participating. Buzz Kanter, publisher of “American Iron” and “RoadBike” magazines, will being riding a 1915 Harley, while Ed Zalonski will be aboard a 1911 Flying Merkel. Video of Buzz’s bike can be found here.
The lone female participant will be Cris Sommers-Simmons, who plans to ride a 1915 Harley 11-J Twin for the 3,325 miles. The Cyril Huze Blog has video of her firing up the bike. Sommers-Simmons lives in Hawaii and is married to Patrick Simmons of The Doobie Brothers. For more info on the run itself, visit here.
