TORRINGTON, CT – A public memorial service for Indian expert George Yarocki, who died in his sleep on May 25 at age 88, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 18th, it was announced this morning at a private funeral attended by family and friends. The setting will be the First Congregational Church of Torrington, 835 Riverside Ave. in Torrington, CT.
Yarocki was laid to rest this morning at Hillside Cemetery. Joining family members were many friends and Indian lovers whom Yarocki helped over the decades.
Buzz Kanter, publisher of “American Iron” magazine, rode to the graveside service aboard his 1931 Indian 101 Scout that Yarocki had worked on. It fittingly was displayed in a prominent place during the service.
Yarocki was one of the world’s leading experts on original Indian motorcycles, specializing in the 101 Scout that was only built between 1928 and 1931.
