Another Incident Involving Riders In NYC

By Bud Wilkinson

Some more motorcyclists in New York have been acting like jerks. A group of more than a dozen riders on bikes and ATVs blocked a congested stretch of Broadway near 190th St. in Washington Heights on Sunday afternoon, doing burnouts and wheelies.

Irate motorists can be heard honking their horns in outrage on the video that was shot and posted on YouTube by neighbor Jon-Marc McDonald. “They were popping wheelies, burning rubber, flying up and down the street,” said McDonald told “The New York Post.”

Sunday’s incident was just blocks from the spot where a biker gang pulled an S.U.V. driver from his vehicle back in September and beat him in front of his wife and daughter. McDonald said the gang that stunted over the weekend had done so on a regular basis prior to the September incident.

No arrests were made Sunday. The newspaper reported that the bikers rode off when a police cruiser approached the scene. Here’s the video:

Two more opportunities to see the motorcycle movie “Why We Ride.”

The Spark! Motorcycle Night will screen it at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday at Molten Java in Bethel, CT, while Hudson Valley Motorcycles in Ossining, NY will show it at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24.

A Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide that was donated to Pope Francis in June to mark the brand’s 110th anniversary will be auctioned in Paris next month. The Pope has customed the bike by adding his signature to the gas tank.
