Harley To Build New Models in India – and U.S.

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

The idea of Harley-Davidson selling motorcycles built in India in the good ol’ U.S.A. runs so contrary to the company’s image as to be ludicrous, and that’s indeed the case.

Street 750“The Kansas City Star” reports that Harley’s new Street 750 and Street 500 models will be made in its plant in Bawal, India for the rest of the world – and in K.C. for U.S. customers.

Production of the bikes at the K.C. plant is expected to start late this year or early in 2014. Harley expects to sell 7,000 to 10,000 of the new models total next year, the newspaper reported.
