Harley-Davidson of Danbury’s Biker Bash

The line for BBQ stretched from the rear of the parking lot almost out to the street, a fact that wasn’t lost on Dave Carvalho of Trumbull, CT. “Once you advertise free food, everyone shows up,” he said.

Carvalho (pictured at right) was one of hundreds of riders who attended the 20th annual Biker Bash staged Sunday by Harley-Davidson of Danbury. “I’m here every spring,” reported Carvalho, who rode in on his 2002 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic trike.

His being on three wheels is result the of injuries sustained from falling off of his roof. “I broke my knee. I couldn’t hold the bike up (any longer),” he said. The appeal of the Biker Bash is “all the old friends – people you don’t see all year long,” he added.

Getting down on his hands and knees to wipe away some sprinkles from his 2006 Harley-Davidson Heritage Softail Classic was Phil Cervone of Danbury (pictured at left), who declared that the three best things that have ever happened to him were getting married, having kids and owning his Harley.

Cervone hadn’t ridden for three and a half years before getting his Harley-Davidson last May. “When my doctor said I could ride, I was like a kid at Christmastime. It makes me feel alive,” he said.

No doubt the other Harley-Davidson lovers agreed. RIDE-CT and RIDE-New England roamed the parking lot for a while checking out the paint jobs, and found these four gas tanks that looked special:
