BMW is recalling nearly 1,500 of its 2013 R 1200 GS models because of a transmission seal that may dislodge and leak oil.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that “pressure inside the transmission may cause the transmission output seal to be pushed out of place” and that “oil may leak from the transmission on to the rear tire, increasing the risk of a crash.
BMW is notifying owners and dealer will at no cost to owners fit a bracket to prevent the transmission seal from being pushed out of the place. The recall notice may be found here.
