Yamaha is recalling some 5,300 of its 2014 FZ-09 model for an inadequate headlight harness that could result in the headlight going out.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday that FZ-09 models manufactured between Aug. 1 and Aug. 29 of this year “may have a headlight harness that is too short and when the handlebars are turned fully to the left or right the may break near the coupler or the coupler may disconnect from the headlight bulb.”
The NHTSA said, “If the harness breaks or the coupler detaches from the headlight, the headlight will go out, reducing the rider’s visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.”
Dealers are installing a sub-harness to the lengthen the harness, free of charge. The recall notice is posted here.
