Harley-Davidson is recalling more than 19,000 of its Dyna and Softail models from the 2012 model year for a bad threads on the brake line banjo bolt in the front brake master cylinder that may corrode. Should that happen, Harley-Davidson says a sudden loss of brake fluid could result, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall is expected to begin Jan. 14. Dealers are notifying owners and will inspect and install a remedy kit or replace the master cylinder, free of charge. Some 19,015 bikes manufactured between Aug. 22, 2011 and Feb. 24, 2012 are affected.
Affected models include FXST103, FLSTC, FLSTC103, FLSTF, FLSTF103, FXDL, FXDWG, FXDWG103, FXDC, FXDB, FLSTN, FLSTN103, FLSTC103Shrine, FLSTFB, FLSTFB103, FXS, FXS103, FLS, FLS103, FLD, FLD103, FXDF, and FXDF103 Dyna and Softail motorcycles.
