MINNEAPOLIS, MN – The cost of owning an Indian just went down. The company today unveiled a new addition to its motorcycle lineup in the form of the Scout Sixty, a less expensive version of the existing Scout and with a smaller engine.

The Scout Sixty looks much like the earlier Scout, which came out in 2014, and has the same chassis, suspension, brakes and core engine. However, the new model’s motor is now 60 cubic inches (999cc) instead of  69 cubic inches and 78 horsepower instead of 100 horsepower. It has a dry weight of 542 pounds, which is four pounds more than the Scout, and a 25.3 inch seat height.

The good news for new riders is that the base price on the Scout Sixty in black is $8,999, which is $2,000 less than the Scout. Red and white versions of the Scout Sixty will run $9,299.

“We expect the Scout Sixty to accelerate the already unprecedented success we have had with the new Scout platform,” said Indian’s motorcycle marketing director, Scott Meek. “The custom community has really embraced the Scout and we have experienced intense enthusiasm from DIY customizers, dealers, pro-builders and the aftermarket.”
