BROOKLYN – After three years of staging the Split’n Lanes & Dodgin’ Gutters show at the Brooklyn Bowl bowling alley, Basket Case Productions plans to “step it up a notch,” according to promoter Girard Fox, and move outdoors this year with a new vintage motorcycle show called “The Lot.”
Set for Saturday, Aug. 19 from 2 p.m. until midnight at 217 Meserole Ave., The Lot will take over “an empty space set in the light-industrial environs of Greenpoint” and create a gathering place for old motorcycles.
Fox reports the lot is actually owned by a film production company that uses it for employee parking and “doesn’t really look too appealing on a normal business day.” That’s expected to change dramatically on the day of the show.
A Facebook post reveals that the show “starts as nothing … zilch, nada. We will transform this nothingness into a day-long celebration of vintage motorcycles.” There will be food and live music, too. The goal is to pack “this empty lot with rows of glorious vintage iron.”
Admission is free and there will be preferential parking for riders arriving on pre-1983 motorcycles.
The Lot is a joint effort of Basket Case Productions and Coney Island Brewery with support from Broadway Stages.
