It’s safe to say there’s no other bike quite like the “flying brick” that Ray Becker of New Marlborough, MA owns, and now wants to sell. Underneath it’s a 1985 BMW K100 with 51,000 miles on the odometer, but what gets immediately noticed is the one-off Evan Wilcox hand-formed, polished aluminum bodywork.
Wilcox is a Ukiah, CA metalsmith who specializes in motorcycle tanks and other parts. His website notes that he’ll do custom work for German, British, Italian, U.S. and other bikes. Tanks usually run $1,500 to $1,850.
Becker’s vintage BMW has a front fairing and full rear section with the seat incorporated. That’s why the asking price is $10,000 obo. He plans to list it on Craigslist soon.
