They look maybe 100 years old, but two models from start-up builder Janus Motorcycles are new and affordable. The Goshen, IN-based company plans to have the Halcyon 50 Basic and the Halcyon 50 (pictured) available come spring for $3,900 and $5,300, respectively.
Using a two-stroke, water-cooled, 50cc engine that can propel the bike as fast as 55 mph, the Halcyons come with kick and electric starters, and 36-spoke wheels. Janus describes itself as “an American manufacturer of hand-made, small-displacement bikes that harken back to iconic eras of motorcycling history.”
Janus’ bikes come with VIN numbers. They can be titled and are road legal. The Halcyon 50 Basic only comes in black, while the Halcyon 50 is available in five colors, including British racing green. The saddlebag kit is an extra $275. Deposits are now being taken on the company’s website.
