Take a look at the above picture of a new 2015 Yamaha model. Do you see it? Look closer. Have you spotted it yet? You’re looking not for a part that’s missing, rather for one that’s included. See it yet?
Yes, it’s a kick-starter. Not only is Yamaha’s SR400 retro-looking, it’s so old school that it must be kick started. It doesn’t even have an electric start button.
The SR400, which was announced yesterday for sale in the U.S. beginning in June, is a 399cc “thumper” with an air-cooled single cylinder.
The SR400 weighs in at only 384 pounds, has 3.2-gallon gas tank and gets an estimated 66 mpg. It comes in only one color – Liquid Graphite. And it will have an MSRP of $5,990.
Yamaha also announced some modifications to its Super Tenere adventure tourer, including a new ES version (pictured above).
The Super Tenere ES features heated grips and an electrically controlled suspension. For 2014, both versions get a bump in horsepower of two more ponies, a revised windscreen and a handlebar position that is higher and closer.
The MSRP on the standard model is $15,090 while the ES version will run $16,190. Both are due out in April.
