GROTON, CT – Jimmey Gonzalez is a 37-year-old U.S. Navy veteran who retired in August having been deployed most recently in the Middle East, including Jordan and Bahrain. He’s now enrolled at Middlesex Community College and one of his classes involves new media.
“Every week we have a new assignment dealing with new media,” he said Friday, explaining that a recent assignment required him to make a slide show that incorporated various Microsoft tools, including PowerPoint. “It was supposed to be an informative piece. I ended up making a three-minute piece.”

His chosen subject was his 2007 Yamaha R6 motorcycle and he created an advice video, a primer on “How to Prepare to Ride.” “I finished it about two days ago and I was really proud of it,” he said, noting that the finished product was really “a love note to his real love.” Heck, even his wife, Jennifer, refers to the R6 as his mistress. But she understands as she rides Yami as well.

Unfortunately, the completed slide show did meet the requirements of his instructor. “The tools he suggested were more for a business presentation,” Gonzalez said.
So, instead of burying it, he posted the slide show on YouTube and shared it on the CT Motorcycles Riders’ Facebook page where RIDE-CT & RIDE-NewEngland discovered it … and immediately felt it worthy of even greater exposure:
