Another Custom Creation from Steve Luba

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

Earlier this month, I wrote about Steve Luba, the Torrington motorcycle fanatic who built a “bitsa” bike from a 1975 Suzuki GT550. Well, he’s now out with another customized creation that began as a 1990 Harley-Davidson Softail Custom.

The bike uses a Suzuki GSX-R 1000 front end and an extended Honda CBR600RR rear. “It handles about like stock in the corners,” said Luba. In an email yesterday, he added, “Since I don’t want a divorce, I’m now retired from bike building.”

Here’s another shot of his creation.

Luba’s also modified a 1981 Honda CB750.

BMW Motorrad will mark its 90th anniversary next year by introducing a new “boxer” model.  Details haven’t been released but artwork that was released to accompany the announcement suggests a roadster with cafe elements. The model’s name and release date will be revealed at “a later stage,” BMW said, which emphasized the new bike “will express the genes of 90 years of BMW Motorrad combined with emotional styling and innovative technology to create a new, multifaceted vehicle concept.”

Dennis Santopietro, creator of the Fix My Hog self-wrenching video series for Harley-Davidson owners, checks in to report that Minnesota-based TN Marketing has acquired the assets of his San Diego company. This will result in more “how-to” content being produced and new streaming to be added to FixMyHog.com.

Ever hit a pothole, gotten jarred and felt lucky you weren’t tossed? “The Columbus Dispatch” reports that an Ohio rider has been awarded a $300,000 claim for the extensive injuries he suffered when he hit a pothole on a state highway in 2007. Michael Harmon got thrown and suffered more than a dozen injuries that required $1.2 million in medical and other expenses. The Ohio Court of Claims ruled Friday that the Ohio Department of Transportation was liable. The story is posted here.
