Another Milestone for a Vintage Moto Guzzi

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

Was it really only 18 months ago that friend and riding cohort Brian O’Neil suddenly pulled over on the berm of Route 41 near Sheffield, MA during a trip to the Berkshires and asked that Brian - with EldoradoI take a picture of the odometer on his 1972 Moto Guzzi Eldorado? The numbers read “88888,” which certainly was a legitimate milestone.

Because a cold had me under the weather over the weekend, I wasn’t able to join Brian on Sunday when he went out to enjoy the Eldorado as it reached an even bigger milestone.

However, he was find some folks to snap some shots for him. Larry Rosansky took the picture where the bike hit “99999,” while Scott Petersen gets the credit for the picture of Brian as well as the pic showing “00000.”

Yes, the Guzzi surpassed 100,000 miles, which is quite an accomplishment no matter what bike you ride.

Connecticut still doesn’t have an Indian dealer, but Massachusetts has added another. Indian’s website now lists M.O.M. South in Foxboro as a new dealer and M.O.M.’s website reports that Indians are coming soon and deposits are now being accepted. As for the remainder of the New England states, well, they don’t have Indian dealers, either – yet.

Vermont’s DMV is on the lookout for the sport bike rider who was doing wheelies and zig-zagging through rush hour traffic on I-89 in South Burlington around 5:40 p.m. Tuesday. The “Burlington Free Press” has the story here.
