Attendance Dipped At New York IMS Due To Snow

By Bud Wilkinson

Attendance figures are out for the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in New York last month and the crowd size plummeted 19.4 percent from the previous show due largely to a winter storm on Saturday, the main day of the three-day event. Attendance 1-Triumph displaywas pegged at 58,811, a sizable drop from the nearly 73,000 folks who came to the show in January 2013.

An exit survey at the IMS revealed that 27 percent of attendees came for the first time. A total of 62 percent said that they made purchases at the show and at least a third said they’d spent $200 or more on items.

Additionally, nearly half toured the show for at least three hours and 36 percent said they’d traveled more than 50 miles to attend. The IMS was held Dec. 13-15, the show being shifted to mid-December from its traditional slot in mid-January.

Customizing a Yamaha/Star Bolt just got easier. Mustang Seats, which has been expanding its product line in recent months, most notably by coming out with seats for some Triumph models, is now offering three seats for the Bolt.

There’s also a 14″ Wide Vintage Solo seat, which also has an optional 10″ wide passenger seat.

Mustang is trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Bolt, which has proven to be very easy to customize. “It is a very versatile platform and just a great all-around motorcycle. About the only thing we could see shorting out was the stock seat,” said Mustang director of sale Steve Veltri in announcing the new seats for the Bolt, which are pictured below.
