PLYMOUTH, CT – In his 36 years of disposing of estates, auctioneer Tim Capulis cannot remember another sale quite like it. “It’s a one-of-a-kind event. It will be an enjoyable event. It will be a memorable event,” he predicted of the Tim Donahue Estate Auction that is set for Jan. 25. There are more than 225 lots that offer everything from vintage cars to old signs, gas pumps and vending machines.
There’s also a large amount of Harley-Davidson memorabilia, including two motorcycles. There’s a restored 1959 Harley-Davidson Hummer (shown above) with a starting bid of $4,000 and a 2013 Harley-Davidson Tri-Glide with a starting bid of $20,000.
The auction will be held at Donahue’s Hooterville Hollow Farm, 80 Keegan Road. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and preview at 9:30 am. with the auction starting at 11:30 a.m. Bidding will also be possible online. Chapulis’ website has the details.
Donahue, who passed away in November at the age of 58, was the owner of D&D Auto Works. He was also a car and motorcycle enthusiast, a vintage racer and a collector of vintage cars, petroliana, and Coca-Cola and Harley-Davidson memorabilia. Among the cars being auctioned are a 1937 Pontiac, a 1974 Ford Mustang II and a 1978 MG.
“What the man put together, I couldn’t believe,” said Chapulis. “He was a true ’40s, ’50s, 60s-era guy.”
