Erik Buell Racing To Unveil New Sportbike

In a four-paragraph tease, Erik Buell Racing (EBR) has announced that it will unveil a new sportbike on Oct. 16 at the American International Motorcycle Exposition in Orlando, FL. The street legal, high performance machine will carry the designation 1190RX and will use
ebr-logothe same 1,190cc engine found in EBR’s limited edition 1190RS Super Bike.

EBR founder Erik Buell said, “This is the culmination of decades of dedication, innovation and teamwork. We have been working to create a pure rider’s machine and a true world brand.”

Based in East Troy, WI, EBR was founded by Buell in 2009. It received an infusion of $25 million from India’s Hero MotoCorp Ltd. in July, which has enabled EBR to accelerate the manufacture of the new model. Hero owns 49.2 percent of EBR.

While its website doesn’t mention it yet, Harley-Davidson of Danbury is the exclusive EBR dealer in New England.

The showbiz website TMZ.com reports that actress Gwyneth Paltrow went to the DMV in Santa Monica, CA earlier this week, took a written test, rode her Vespa around the lot and acquired a motorcycle license. Details and a video of her cutting off a school bus on her scooter can be found here.

The British motorcycle website Motorcyclenews.com is running a poll which asks, “Which nation makes the world’s best motorcycles.” As of this morning, with fewer than 100 votes cast, Japan was leading with 40.4 percent of the ballots, followed by Italy with 24.24 percent, Germany with 17.17 percent, Great Britain with 15.15 percent and, in last place, America with 3.03 percent.
