Ever Wanted a Rotary Motorcycle?

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

Here’s a definite “find” on eBay. Up for grabs today is a 1976 Suzuki RE5 rotary motorcycle. What makes it special is that it has 0 miles on the odometer. It’s brand new. Never been ridden. With less than 14 hours remaining (as this is written at 10:30 a.m. Monday EST), some 37 bids have already been made. The price is up to $18,850 and the reserve has not been met.

Care to bid? Here the page to find the RE5.

Update: Bidding just ended at midnight. The last bid among more than 45 total was for $20,500, but the reserve was not met.

Russian manufacturer Ural this morning reported that it posted a record sales year in the U.S. in 2012, surpassing the previous record set in 2006. Sales were up more than 30 percent, although specific unit sales were not disclosed.

Spent nearly enjoyable 45 minutes on the phone this morning talking author, PR maven, BMW rider and New Jersey motorcycle blogger Jack Riepe, whose salty and humorous Twisted Roads commentaries can be found here.

Riepe rides an old K75. His latest book, “Conversations with a Motorcycle,”  came out last year and has proven so popular that it sold out and there’s now a waiting list. He’s sending a copy without the title page – he screwed up signing his name for a buyer – for RIDE-CT.com to review. Can’t wait to get it.
