MILWAUKEE – Harley-Davidson plans to cut the workforce by 169 employees at its Kansas City, MO plant in May.
The “Journal Sentinel” newspaper in the company’s headquarters of Milwaukee reports that a notice filed with the Missouri Department of Workforce Development said the layoffs are effective May 11.
“This is not easy news to share and was a decision made after careful analysis and consideration given to out long-term manufacturing and business strategy,” the company said. The layoffs will continue through Seot. 30 and reflect production needs.
Harley-Davidson builds Sportster, Dyna, Street and V-Rod models at the Kansas City plant. No layoffs are planned at Harley-Davidson factories in Wisconsin or York, PA.
