SANTA MONICA, CA – After a two-year absence in the New York market due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Progressive IMS Outdoors tour will return in 2022 with a Sept. 23-25 stop at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY.
The visit to Long Island will be one of eight stops on the IMS Outdoors circuit. The tour begins June 17-19 at the Ranch Events Complex in Loveland, CO and ends Nov. 4-6 at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, CA.
Other stops will be made in Chicago (June 24-26 at Goebbert’s Farm and Garden Center in South Barrington, IL); Pennsylvania (Sept. 16-18) at the Carlisle Fairgrounds); Atlanta (Sept. 30 – Oct. 2); Northern California (Oct. 21-23) at the San Mateo County Event Center); and Phoenix (Oct. 28-30 at Westworld of Scottsdale).
Up until 2019, the Progressive International Motorcycle Show (as what was then an indoor event was known) stopped in the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan. The show was canceled in 2020. Renamed last year and moved outside as IMS Outdoors, the show had planned to visit the Brooklyn Army Terminal in early September. That stop was also canceled because of pandemic rules.
The shift outside allowed the show to focus more on demo rides and eBikes, while continuing to offer shopping opportunities as well as display new, vintage and custom motorcycles. The tour visited eight cities in 2021 and offered more than 35,000 demo rides. An estimated 44 percent of attendees were new to riding or prospective riders, according to an IMS Outdoors press release.
IMS Outdoors gave no indication in the press release as to which motorcycle manufacturers might participate in this year’s tour.
“The launch of IMS Outdoors was an exciting challenge that armed us with learnings we look forward to applying on the 2022 tour, including an expansion of the highly successful demo program, growing our electric footprint, and adding more experience-focused offerings,” said Tracy Harris, SVP of Progressive IMS Outdoors.
“The Powersports industry is amid a transformative period in time as new brands emerge, such as bespoke and electric companies, and we welcome an all-new generation of riders. We are so proud to cater our event to the changing needs of the industry and reunite everyone from new riders and kids to life-long enthusiasts.”
