Indian is recalling some of its 2015 Scout models due to a problem with the rear master brake cylinder.
A total of 806 of the Scouts made between May 12, 2014 and Feb. 13, 2015 are being recalled.for the problem, which may result in “a full or partial loss of braking power” with the consequence being a longer “distance needed to show or stop the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.”
Indian reports, “In some vehicles, the piston retaining ring located in the rear master cylinder may not fully seat into the machined groove in the master cylinder bore. If this were to occur the vehicle may experience an inability to generate fluid pressure to the rear brake caliper.”
Owners are being notified by Indian. Dealers will inspect and, if needed, replace the rear master brake cylinder. The recall notice is posted here.
