The dealership’s website hasn’t been reactivated yet but the sale of Burt Ives Honda in Columbia, CT by Ken Ives Sr. to his son Kenny has finally closed, meaning presumably that new Honda motorcycles will once again be available. The younger Ives already owns Chaplin Kawasaki in Chaplin, CT.

Jim Tabor, former co-owner of Willow’s Motorsports in Cheshire, CT, hasn’t abandoned bikes. He’s now helping out selling part-time at New England Cycle Center in Hartford.

RIDE-CT.com/Ride-NewEngland.com hears that plans are underway for new motorcycle dealership in Bethel, CT with the possible brands being Triumph and Moto Guzzi and that Max BMW expects to expand into a fourth state (one that’s west of the Hudson River) come the new year with what would be its fifth store. Max BMW currently has dealerships in Connecticut, New York and New Hampshire.

If you’re into old motorcycles and have deep pockets, Mecum Auctions is planning an large auction in Las Vegas from Jan. 9-11 with some of the pickings including a 1911 Harley-Davidson 7D Twin, a 1937 Vincent Comet Series A and a 1958 Ariel Square Four Mark II.

It’s been up in the right-hand column for long enough – the polls questions which asked your reaction to Harley-Davidson’s new and smaller Street 750 and Street 500 models. A total of 37 percent of those responding said the bikes were “great looking and (a) great idea.” A total of 15 percent said they didn’t care and four percent said they were “too puny and unnecessary.” Another poll will be posted after the first of the year.
