The 7th annual Middletown Motorcycle Mania, which is set for 5 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 8 in downtown Middletown, is looking for volunteers to help the event run smoothly.
“We have most of the volunteers for the registration booths, the parking down the middle of the street. We’re looking for a couple of bodies around the perimeter,” volunteer coordinator Kent Levack said today.
The goal is to keep people from sneaking in. “It’s not a paid event. It’s a donation event,” said Levack. When people sneak in, the staff doesn’t get the chance to ask for a donation. Sounds fair.
Volunteers will get a lime green event T-shirt for their efforts and a post-mania party is planned. Levack’s phone number is 860-830-9959. The event website can be found here.

A recall of about 13,000 Kawasaki Concours 14 motorcycles from the model years 2008-2012 is in the works because of a rear-brake problem. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today that small stones or road debris could get trapped between the rear pedal and guard, causing the rear brake to overheat or lock up.
