Registration for motorcycle courses at Naugatuck Valley Community College opens at 8 a.m. Wednesday. Info may be found here.
(Update: Just heard heard from John Purdy Jr. at N.V.C.C. and he reports that 100 prospective riders showed up in person to enroll for courses on the opening day of enrollment and nearly 150 signed up total. He attributes the large response to the fact training is now mandatory to secure an “M” on your driver’s license as well as to rising gas prices.)

A former Wisconsin state sentator and avid Harley-Davidson rider, who championed a “Rider’s Choice” anti-helmet law in his home state, was seriously injured Sunday in a crash in Florida. Dave Zien, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, lost a leg above the knee in the accident. His bike sustained $10,000 in damages. The “LaCrosse Tribune” has the story here.
