A lot has been made in recent years about older riders calling it quits and younger folks not taking up riding. Despite the suggested trends, motorcycle registrations in Connecticut have remained relatively steady over the past five years.
Figures from the state Department of Motor Vehicles show there were 84,836 registered motorcycles in the database in January, a decrease of 3,283 from 2019.
The in-between years, which saw the Covid pandemic take place, had fluctuating registration numbers from a high of 86,342 in 2023 to a low of 83,317 in 2021. The last year that registrations topped 90,000 was 2018 when 91,120 bikes were registered.
