Vintage Indian expert George Yarocki of Torrington, CT (shown above) will be honored by the Springfield Museums at its fifth annual Indian Day celebration on July 20 in the Massachusetts city. Yarocki is a life-long Indian lover and co-founder of the 101 Association, an organization devoted to the history and preservation of the 101 Scout model, which Indian only produced between 1928 and 1931.
Indian Day “will pay tribute” to Yarocki for his passion for and dedication to Indians, which were produced in Springfield from 1901 until the company went out of business in 1953. Indian Day runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Quadrangle outside the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History, which houses an extensive collection of vintage Indians, including a 1929 101 Scout once owned by Yarocki.
