New 2012 Models from Harley-Davidson

What’s new from Harley-Davidson for 2012? Not much. The company took the wraps off its 2012 model lineup for dealers today and the lone new models were a 10th anniversary V-Rod and a new Dyna called the Switchback.

The Switchback is described as a “custom touring motorcycle” with color-matched, detachable hard saddlebags and an easily removable windshield as well as a “custom street cruiser” when the accessories are removed. It’s powered by a 103-cubic-inch V-Twin engine, with a two-into-one chrome exhaust. The Switchback has a 4.7 gallon tank and weighs in at 718 pounds – 94 pounds lighter than a Road King.

The 10th anniversary V-Rod is one of three V-Rods for 2012. It’s joined by the Night Rod Special and the V-Rod Muscle. The anniversary model has five-spoke cast wheels, a pullback handlebar and straight-shot exhaust with slash-cut mufflers. It’s powered by liquid-cooled 1250cc engine that puts out 125 horsepower. It has a 240mm rear tire, too.

Harley reports that the Twin Cam 103 powertrain will be standard on all Softail and Touring models as well as most Dyna models. Harley will offer a total of 32 models for 2012. Here are two more pics of the Switchback and the anniversary V-Rod…
