Italian bike-maker Moto Guzzi, part of the Piaggio Group, rolled out two prototype models at a dealer show in Monte Carlo last week. Of course, someone took cell phone pictures that quickly got leked to European motorcycle websites, which prodded the release of some official photos.
In the pipeline are a new, more stream-lined California cruiser model and a new version of the V7.
The California boasts a 1,400cc transverse V-twin motor and a restyled look that has the gas tank wrapping around the cyclinders. There are new valve covers and new wheels, brakes and suspension. The oveall look mixes tradition with modern-day rider appeal.
The additional V7 is Scrambler model with high silencers, chrome trim and a 950cc engine.
No word on when these bikes might be produced and available. Nearly 2,000 dealers attended the show at the Grimaldi Forum, which was hosted by Piaggio Group CEO Roberto Colanimo.
