New Harley Models Have Arrived

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

It was only a little more than a week ago that Harley-Davidson unveiled two mid-year 2012 models – the Sportster “Seventy-Two” and the Softail “Slim” – and the good news is that they’re already in stores.

RIDE-CT.com visited Harley-Davidson of Danbury on Friday and got to sit on both. What impressed about the Slim is the low seat height (23.8 inches laden), while the paint job on the “Seventy-Two” is that bike’s best feature.

Thanks to Jeff Watson, Dave Selwitz and Darcy Birch at H-D of Danbury.

After stopping at H-D of Danbury, RIDE-CT.com continued on with visits to Danbury Powersports, MAX BMW in Brookfield and New Milford Cycles.

Andrew Jowdy at Danbury Powersports was nice enough to pull a 2012 Suzuki V-Strom 650 out of a line of new bikes for a closer inspection, while Dave Hartley did likewise on a used 2004 R1150GS at MAX BMW. This is called putting to good use some free time on a Friday afternoon.

On the subject of the newly-redesigned V-Strom, Suzuki is recalling some 2012 V-Stroms and Burgman scooters for faulty brake light switches. Some 1,396 units manufactured prior to Dec. 17, 2011 are affected. Failure of the brake light switch on the scooters could prevent them from starting, while the faulty switch could also cause the brake lights to not illuminate when the brakes are applied. The recall is expected to begin next week.

Pete Belli passed along a link yesterday to a video of “Norton Commando Transformer” and after watching it, well, it deserves being shared here:
