NEW YORK – The unveiling of a new model from Victory, and the stateside debut of flashy new motorcycles from Honda, Triumph, Ducati and Husqvarna, provided the visual highlights on opening day of the Progressive International Motorcycle Show today. Thousands of bike lovers turned out to window shop and gawk, try on gear, and spend time with friends.
The new 2013 model from Victory – The Judge – harkens back to the days of muscle cars when raw power and attitude were the rule. The bikes looks smaller than it really is:
Honda’s newest bike, the NC700X, is a mid-sized entry that would be equally comfortable commuting or carving back roads:
The first Triumph Explorer to grace our shores made its debut. From the looks of it, BMW has a real challenger to its R1200GS:
As usual, Ducati had models and a fashion show, which accompanied the U.S. reveal of its newest superbike, the 1199 Panigale:
Husqvarna, meanwhile, took the wrapper off the new Concept Baja, which has instrumentation built into the crossbar of the handlebar:
Many of those attending lined up to meet bike-builder Paul Teutel Jr. and get his autograph:
Bike-builder Dave Perewitz was also on hand to show off some custom work that he’s done for Royal Enfield:
While it didn’t have a new model to show off, Harley-Davidson was well represented with bikes from the present and past, including a 1931 Model C.
RIDE-CT gathered a lot more pictures and info during opening day. Consider this a tease of what’s on the way in future posts. Couldn’t resist getting these pictures displayed as quickly as possible.
