NEW YORK – With fall bringing so many new model announcements from various manufacturers, this weekend’s Progressive International Motorcycle Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center promises to be an improvement over recent years, and shaves and boot shines will be free!

More than a dozen manufacturers will have their motorcycles on display. Just inside the entrance will be the Progressive Parlor, which will feature Flo’s Chop Shop where attendees will be able to get free beard and mustache trims, boot shines and Progressive-blue manicures.
Among the manufacturers participating in this year’s IMS are BRP, BMW, Ducati,, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Indian, Kawasaki, KTM, Royal Enfield, (Polaris) Slingshot, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory, Yamaha. (Among the missing are Aprilia and Moto Guzzi.)
As usual there will be dozens of exhibits and booths by apparel and other gear makers, music, speakers, the J&P Cycles Ultimate Builder Custom Bike Show, stunt performances and vintage club displays.
RIDE-CT & RIDE-NewEngland checked with several motorcycle manufacturers to see what they’re bringing to the IMS:
BMW had planned to show off a “stunt” version of its new G 310 R model, the single-cylinder, 350-pound roadster that will be built in India. However, late word Wednesday was that the bike hasn’t cleared customs and won’t make it. The new R nineT Scrambler won’t be seen at the BMW display, either, as production of the new model is still six months away. Nonetheless, there will be other new models.
