New Movies Filled with Motorcycles

By Bud Wilkinson of RIDE-CT.com

Motorcycles have been a part of movies as long as there have been movies, and the crop of summer movies has loads of them, beginning with “The Avengers.” Not only does Captain America ride a Harley-Davidson in “The Avengers,” there are bikes in the new “Men in Black 3” feature and even in the animated flick “Madagascar 3.” And, yes, Anne Hathaway looks purrfect on a custom in her role as Catwoman in the Batman film “The Dark Knight Rises.”

Motorcycles can help amp the action and, for manufacturers, can help sell street models.

Polaris Industries, maker of Victory motorcycles, is proceeding with plans to turn the revived Indian marquee into a player as well. Having acquired the brand in 2011, the company is redesigning the Indian and hopes to have something new in showrooms by late 2013. The “Journal Sentinel” in Milwaukee has the story here.

We’re now almost a week into May, so it’s time to tabulate the results of the April poll question: “How often do you wear a helmet when riding?”

Of the 79 votes cast,  80 percent of the voters said “Always,” nine percent said “Only when riding in states where it’s required,” five percent said “Most of the time” or “Never,” and one percent said “Sometimes.”
