Tis the season of “keep ’em guessing.” Pictures are popping up online showing portions of new motorcycle models, such as the Ducati Monster 1200 R yesterday, and models that might be headed to production. Most confusing is a new movie trailer for something called “Outlaws,” which contains images of what is expected to be a new 1,100cc Bonneville from Triumph.
Still photos, such as the one above, show David Beckham with the bike because:
1) He’s English and a Triumph enthusiast
2) He’s spokesman for Belstaff, the maker of high-end motorcycle garb from the U.K.
3) He stars in “Outlaws” with Katherine Waterston, Cathy Moriarity and Harvey Keitel, or…
4) Belstaff is backing the movie while offering an “Outlaws” collection of gear, which includes $1,995 riding jackets.
Any thoughts? Oh, yeah, Triumph is also benefiting from some product placement.
Is this confusing? Or just nonsense? The movie’s supposed to be released on Sept. 22. The trailer shows a bunch of carnies, with Beckham playing a mysterious stranger/motorcycle stuntman. Is there actually a full-length “Outlaws” movie or is the trailer merely a commercial for Belstaff (and Triumph) in disguise? Give it a watch…
The film is supposed to be surreal. The same might be said for all the teasing that’s now taking place. By the way, the picture on the Home page is grabbed from the trailer. A new Bonneville is something that I’d be interested in seeing. The movie, not so much.
