Harley-Davidson’s union employees in Wisconsin today voted to approve a new seven-year contract offered by The Motor Company that will likely result in hundreds of fulltime workers being let go. The new pact also allows for many more part-time, “casual” employers, who will be paid much lower wages and not receive any benefits. Harley had threatened to pull all manufacturing out of Wisconsin if the contract wasn’t OKed. Tomorrow, the company will details it plans. “The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel” has the story.

As previously posted, the California legislature recently passed a bill aimed at diminishing motorcycle noise, but Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has yet to indicate whether he’ll sign it into law, which he has until September 30 to do. The Associated Press has put together a story on the situation, which really could apply to almost anywhere.
Miami Heat dance team member Nancy G. Lopez-Ruiz, 22, died Friday night in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. while riding her 2003 Suzuki GSX R and another motorist was to blame as she was struck from behind. No word on whether she was wearing a helmet. “The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel” has the story.
