David Radford chucked his job in 2008, bought a motorcycle and went for an extended ride. The 40-year-old Canadian has visited 83 countries – so far. He has witnessed the kindness of strangers and been jailed once. “The Marlborough Express” in New Zealand has his story here.

A rusty 1906 Indian Camelback, one of only 1,698 built in Springfield, MA that year, will be auctioned by Bonhams in Las Vegas on January 12. The bike, which had top speed of 30 miles per hour, is expected to bring big bucks in its unrestored state. The “Daily Mail” in the U.K. has the story and pictures here.

Jim Tabor of Willow’s Motorsports in Cheshire emails that Honda has set prices for the 2012 CBR250R. Base price is $4,099, a $100 increase from 2011, and $4,599 with ABS.

Carrie Pfistner posted a YouTube video on Facebook yesterday that deserves even wider exposure. It shows a young boy riding a motorized bike and picking up his younger sister, who has no protective gear whatsoever – not even a helmet. I know that’s exactly what we did “back in the day,” but it sure looks like irresponsible parenting now.
