Hurricane Sandy (and the celebration of my hometown of Harwinton’s 275th anniversary) diverted attention, but now it’s time to catch up…
The Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee has unveiled a display that showcases the “Tsunami Harley,” the 2004 Softail Night Train owned by Ikuo Yokoyama that drifted for more than a year across the Pacific Ocean following a tsunami in 2011 in northern Japan.
The bike was discovered in a shipping container on an island off the coast of British Columbia by Peter Cook. Yokoyama asked that the bike be preserved in its recovered condition and displayed as a memorial to those who lost their lives or had their lives forever changed.

Honda is moving SSV production from Mexico to South Carolina. Production will begin at its Florence County plant in mid-2013. The company is investing $27 million. An estimated 65 new jobs will be generated. Honda recently produced its 2.5 millionth ATV in South Carolina.

Yankee Beemers holds its annual “end of season” brunch ride to the Vanilla Bean in Pomfret tomorrow morning. RIDE-CT plans to hook up with friends and head over early. The ride is inevitably chilly, but it’s a chance to see some interesting vintage bikes, engage in some good conversation and eat some good food.
