The official launch won’t take place until Feb. 2, but Royal Enfield is now teasing its new Himalayan adventure model after months (or is it years?) of speculation over what it might look like.
No word yet on when the India-made bike will be available or where. The company’s new U.S. subsidiary is still lining up dealers.

The bike will be powered by a 410cc single cylinder motor, with reports from India suggesting there will be dirt-oriented and street-orient models offered. The Himalayan will have a 3.96-gallon gas tank and a 21-inch front wheel.
In a story in “The Times of India,” Royal Enfield CEO Siddartha Lai writes of the “exciting and agonizing years designing the Hamalayan” and reports “the all new engine delivers high torque ad usable power at lower RPMS. This makes for smooth riding in higher gears at lower speeds, making it easy to climb hills, or to maneuver through traffic.
“Fewer moving parts with modern materials and aggregates means that the engine is low maintenance and very efficient, and can go 10,000 kilometres (6,213 miles) between oil change(s),” he added.
