A new video shared over the weekend to a group of guys that I sometimes ride with caught my attention and spurred some commenting. It was created by a YouTuber who calls himself Copperdawg. He’s a 61-year-old rider from central Florida who shares his thoughts and opinions on riding.
The video was titled “Rewire Your Brain.” It’s labeled as “What I Would Tell The Younger Me About Riding Motorcycles: Road Strategy.”

The video’s very good for someone who just needs a refresher or has never had any formal rider education. It discusses the importance of having a good mental attitude and just how different riding a motorcycle is from driving a car.
Copperdawg organizes the material well and presents it in a manner that’s easy to digest. As a longtime CONREP instructor, I’ve seen much the same information in Motorcycle Safety Foundation material. However, this new video does provide another perspective on the concepts that you can view at home.

That’s the value of it, although nothing can replace taking an on-motorcycle training course because you can’t develop, correct or fine-tune riding skills sitting at a screen.
Here’s a link to Copperdawg’s video that was shared in my riding group. Check it out.
