BROOKFIELD, CT – This month marks a milestone for Spectro Oils of America, whose products are manufactured and marketed by Intercontinental Lubricants Corp. at 993 Federal Road. The company celebrates its 50th anniversary, having been founded in 1966 by Robert H. Wehman.
Still family-owned, Spectro Oils helped pioneer two-stroke oil for motorcycles. The company now offers oils for every niche in the power sports and automotive market. All products are batch blended and then shipped from a 70,000-square-foot plant here.
Wehman was an engineer who specialized in the field of two-stoke lubricants for cars. He solved fuel/oil mixtures for Saab of America at a time when the Swedish car-maker marketed two-stroke autos in the U.S.
RIDE-CT & RIDE-NewEngland toured the factory in the fall of 2014 and wrote about Spectro Oils here.
