Submerged for 56 Years, Bike Now Back on Land

Fisherman Jeff Riedemann hooked a whopper on Nov. 29 when he pulled a 1938 German motorcycle from the bottom of Big Swan Lake in Dassel, MN. It had been submerged since December 1956 when 15-year-old Dean Allie went through the ice while joyriding. Allie’s now 71 and got tears in his eyes when Riedemann brought the bike to him. “The Free Press” in Mankato, MN has the story with pictures here.

BMW is recalling nearly 2,400 of its 2012-2013 S 1000 RR superbike due to a manufacturing problem that could cause side-stand attachment bolts to come loose and the side-stand to fall off. The recall will begin in January.
