Today – April 5 – is the most dangerous day to ride, at least in the U.K.
Data from the bike insurance company Bennetts reveals that April 5 has the highest number of claims, with Thursdays generally being the worst day of the week for motorcycle accidents. Weekends are the safest.
Bennetts reports that riders named David are the most vulnerable, accounting for 15 percent of total claims. Riders named Paul and Andrew also don’t fare well.

Harley-Davidson is introducing a seat and windshield demo program, which will enable riders to sample components before buying. The program starts in early May and roughly 80 percent of Harley dealers are participating. Dealers will have a minimum of four and as many as 26 different seats to test on a variety of models. When I owned the V-Rod, changing from the stock seat to the Sundowner model made a world of difference. I’d be remiss, though, if I didn’t put in a quick plug for RIDE-CT.com advertiser Mustang Seats.

Riding took priority over the weekend, so posting the final stats for the March poll and getting them posted was delayed. The question asked was how many miles riders had gotten in during the unseasonably warm winter?
A total of 28 percent of voters said 250-500 miles, 23 percent said 1-250 miles, 22 percent said more than 1,000 miles, 15 percent said 500-1,000 miles and 12 percent said zero miles. The fact that 88 percent of riders didn’t put their bikes away this winter reveals just how snow-free the winter was.
