FARIBAULT, MN – Classic Motorworks, the U.S. distributor of Royal Enfield motorcycles, is out with its Top 10 list of dealers in the country for 2014, and two are in New England.
National Powersports Distributors in Pembroke, NH, ranked No. 5 in sales for the year, while Mark’s Motorsports in Enfield, CT ranked No.9. The top dealer was Royal Enfield of Fort Worth in Texas.
Royal Enfield, which is based in India, made some headlines recently when it announced that it had surged past Harley-Davidson last year by selling more motorcycles than any other manufacturer. Royal Enfield reported sales of 302,591, compared to 267,999 for Harley-Davidson.
Classic Motorworks doesn’t disclose U.S. sales but Pat Canney, the company’s director of marketing, said today that sales doubled in 2014 over 2013.
The best selling model was its most expensive model – the Continental GT cafe racer at $5,999. Royal Enfield fills a niche market by selling single-cylinder, 499cc bikes.
Canney said there are currently 120 Royal Enfield dealers in the U.S. and that the company hopes to add 50 to 75 more this year.
