WEST CORNWALL, CT – It took nearly four years from start to finish, but part-time resident Gary Halby’s high-end, high-quality coffee table book celebrating motorcycles, “The Art of the Ride,” is now available for purchase.
Filled with dozens of exquisite pictures of bikes, bikers, bike parts and gear, “The Art of the Ride” sells for $185. A couple of dozen copies have already been sold. Buyers “just love the design. The bikes are really beautiful,” Halby said Friday.
Halby’s book project began in earnest in the summer of 2012. He roamed the main drag in Kent, CT with his expensive Canon camera with a 70-300mm telephoto lens capturing images of visitors and their rides.
It wasn’t until early 2015 that the former owner of a New York ad agency, whose main residence is in the city, produced a proof copy of the book. It took that long to go through hundreds of photos and select the ones to be used in the book.
The book’s release will be marked by a gallery exhibition of some of the photos used in “The Art of the Ride” at the Good Gallery in Kent, CT on July 9. “Basically, it’s going to be the bikes, not the bikers,” said Halby of the pictures that will be on display.
“The Art of the Ride” may be purchased through Halby’s website or by emailing him at gary@garyhalby.com.
