BMW Launches Online Store For Parts, Gear

WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ – Just a couple of weeks after Harley-Davidson announced the launch of an online store in conjunction with Amazon, BMW Motorrad USA has unveiled its own web shopping presence (www.shopbmwmotorcycles.com) for owners to buy parts, accessories and gear.

Unlike Harley-Davidson’s direct-to-consumers approach, BMW reports, “Individual purchases are fulfilled through BMW’s network of authorized dealers.”

And, while Harley-Davidson’s online offerings are limited, BMW’s product range is expansive. In a press release, the company said, “The new e-commerce site gives shoppers easy access to a full and up-to-date range of BMW Motorrad parts, accessories, apparel, product information, fitment, images, videos and pricing with just a few clicks on their desktop or mobile devices.”

Ben Radzyner, manager of parts and accessories for BMW Motorrad USA, said, “Our range of parts, accessories and gear has broadened along with our model range. This site offers buyers one central source for accessorizing and customizing their bikes, outfitting themselves in the latest Ride and Style gear, and connecting to a local dealer.”

The BMW online store should certainly please dealers as it centralizes online shopping and drives foot traffic into stores, while Harley-Davidson’s approach potentially pulls customers away from local stores.
