N.J. Moves to Ban Motorcycle-Only Checkpoints

The Senate Transportation Committee in New Jersey approved on Tuesday legislation that would prohibit motorcycle-only checkpoints. “Stopping a driver strictly because of the type of vehicle they are operating is unfair to motorists, plain and simple,” said Sen. Jeff Van Drew, who is co-sponsoring the bill. “The Herald” has the story here.

The Connecticut state trooper accused of stealing $3,700 from the body of a motorcyclist from Orange who died in an accident while exiting the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield on Sept. 22 has entered a plea. Aaron “AJ” Huntsman pleaded no guilty on Monday to two counts of third-degree larceny and one count each of interfering with police and tampering with evidence. The case has been continued until Jan. 18. The “Connecticut Post” has the story here.

Indian Motorcycles used the Progressive International Motorcycle Show in Long Beach, CA to show off Burt Munro’s “World’s Fastest Indian” – a 1920 Indian Scout – that became the subject of a movie. Techs even fired it up:
