Along The Road: 1967 Harley-Davidson

Chris ‘D’Aleo of Amenia, NY may have ridden into Toymaker’s Cafe in Falls Village, CT in a group yesterday morning, but the bike he was riding certainly stood out from the others (as did a Yamaha XS850 that I regrettably didn’t get pictures of).

D’Alewo was aboard a sparkling 1967 Harley-Davidson XLCH. He’s owned the Sportster for roughly four years, having found the bike on Craigslist. Seems a BMW owner was hoping to get his wife into riding and thought it would make a good starter bike. “After a week or so, they decided it wasn’t a good idea,” said D’Aleo.

Since buying it, D’Aleo has had the Sportster repainted and has re-done the top on the motor.

The bike doesn’t have a speedometer/odometer, so he has no idea how many miles are on the bike or how fast he’s going.

D’Aleo also owns one other bike – a 1949 Indian Scout.

What caught my eye about the Sportester, besides its overall beauty, was the kicker with the company name right in the rubber.
