Ever thought that all of the family fireworks involving the feuding Teutel clan and their employees at Orange County Choppers in New York was just staged for the cameras for the “American Chopper” television series?
The “Times-Union” newspaper in Albany reported over the weekend that Teutel family’s patriarch was a frequent customer of a Florida dentist, who provided him with steroids and HGH. Dr. James M. D’Amico pleaded guilty Friday to the illegal distribution of perfomance enhancing drugs.
The newspaper reports that “D’Amico’s clientele was far-reaching and included Paul Teutel Sr., the muscular and fiery-tempered star of the Discovery Channel’s popular reality television series, ‘American Chopper,’ according to business records. The records indicate Teutul, 61, founder of Orange County Choppers in Newburgh, received dozens of prescriptions for steroids and human growth hormone authorized by D’Amico and three Florida physicians over a four-year period ending in 2005.”
The newspaper additionally detailed that “Teutel received 73 prescriptions at a cost of $51,784.78.” The full story can be read here. Does this explain his temper tantrums on the TV show?
