Brooklyn Invitational Gallery

RIDE-CT.com / RIDE-NewEngland.com staffers Bob Rosen and Bud Wilkinson spent Saturday pounding the pavement in Brooklyn, NY and snapping pictures of motorcycles. The purpose of the visit to the Williamsburg section was to attend the 6th annual Brooklyn Invitational Custom Motorcycle Show, which featured the creations of some two-dozen builders in a gallery setting.

The free show packed the house at Root Studios, 131 N. 14th St. with the designs covering various styles, vintages and brands of bikes. The street outside the event was lined with bikes with overflow taking up portions of other streets.

Besides going to the show, Rosen and Wilkinson spent hours taking to riders; visiting shops, such as Jane Motorcycles, which mixes motorcycle fashion and espresso; and enjoying some German beer at Berry Park. (More on Jane Motorcycles in an upcoming story.)

What follows, with limited description, is a gallery of some of the motorcycle sights in Brooklyn as well as some of the bikes in the show. Rosen took the black and white pictures, while Wilkinson shot in color. On a few occasions, their pictures overlapped, such as when they spotted a peeling wall adorned with brand logos of motorcycle manufacturers:

Parked on the street nearby amidst a crush of motorcycles on 14th St. was a vintage Porsche 550 Spyder from the mid-1950s that looked great from any angle:
